2. The day I won my first prize at school.
3. The days I glanced at pretty pink frocks, and dad bought them even without being asked for.
4. All those afternoons when mom tried to put me and my sis to sleep, and we kept lifting our heads notoriously and giggled for hours while she was sleeping in between us.
5. Every month the day dad got his salary, we’d go to Shikara to dine with the ducks.
6. Every night when mom used to put me to sleep, rubbing her hand on my back however tired she may be.
7. The day mom made me into a furry bunny with her hand-woven costume and soon after the fancy dress competition was thru’, dad mom took me to the park to pose between the bushes. Back then, I was too young to be embarrassed, just felt weird. Today, I miss those avatars.
8. My first stage performance and hearing “Once more” echo to my ears.
9. The days I played cards with my grandparents when my parents were out.
10. The day I learnt to swim without a float.
11. The days I locked myself in my room to revise lessons. Laying down a row of pillows on my bed, I’d open my notebook to question myself. Then shut it. But when I’d be completely blank, I would spank my pillows and instantly remember answers! :-)
12. All the days I played an outdoor game called Salchii.
13. The good ’ol halwa poori n’ chole days at my first home.
14. All those thrilling giant wheel and tora-tora days.
15. Everytime my grandfather kissed me on my cheek on reading my poems or winning a prize. I still remember, I’d wipe my cheek that very instant. Today, I miss those instants.

39. The day I just casually told dad that mom didn’t gimme breakfast, and he quietly went to the kitchen and made me a meetha paratha. And when I smiled and said he didn’t have to, he just smiled and hid his face. It was a very touching moment for dad, mom and me, ‘coz even without saying a word, I knew what was running on their mind – “After our daughters get married and go, we wouldn’t get chances like this anymore…!”
